It just happens that I come across quite often in the Bulgarian media for information about Polish. And certainly not a reference to the Polish everyday life and encouraging participation in high culture. This time it's presentation of "The Star Diaries " ( Звездните дневници) Stanislaw Lem - in a new section dedicated to books on the site DNES (so our Virtual Poland, and Onet. Cover photo borrowed from wzmiankowanego article.) Previously, for example, I came across on the air nationwide radio station Horizont (roughly as the Polish radio one) for the invitation to the theater for Testosterone Saramonowicz. The presentation was assessed by the critics quite flattering and encouraging. A few weeks earlier, I listened to an interview with the famous Polish professor bułgarystą. Probably more than an hour was present in the radio antenna, he said very interesting and it's around 17 hours, and not in the middle of the night. I do not mention even a regular invitations to events organized by the Polish Institute in Sofia. Great interest, for example, concerts of music by Chopin, a special concert by Leszek Mozdzer (2010 was the year of Chopin in the world, hence the abundance of musical events in Bulgaria).
culture-evidently important role played by the Polish Institute in Sofia, but without genuine interest in Polish, a group of Bulgarian intellectuals, so a significant presence in the Bulgarian kulturosferze absolutely would not be possible. With many years of work of many enthusiasts, I am an ordinary passer-by, I experience the words of sympathy, even on the proverbial street and from the so-called ordinary people. Pleasant and nice!
do not know exactly how the thing looks like in Poland, I would like to not was no asymmetry, and that Bulgaria was present in the Polish media only in positive contexts. Unfortunately, what appears occasionally in the mainstream media ... just a pity to talk. In fact, it never reaches anything pozytywnego.Wiedzą this very well, young Bulgarians going to scholarships for Polish, who at various wave bzdurnych, media stereotypes in Poland experienced very unpleasant things. But it's the same thing the Bulgarians to properly take care of the positive image of Bulgaria abroad, not only in Poland. How do I do? This is a topic for a thicker screed ;-) It seems to me that the case is the most feasible and without major financial outlay.
fantastic with the promotion of their own country are doing in Poland, Hungary. Every moment relationships with travel to Hungary, and this in Tygodnik Powszechny, and that the columns of the Commonwealth. The traditional Polish-Hungarian friendship is a fact, especially at the level of high culture. There is a lot of interesting literary translations. The conflicts that existed between our two peoples over the centuries were rather small, there was a lot more positives. Hence today, friendship - a kind of phenomenon.
conflicts with Bulgaria we did not think at all. Slavic country with a partially similar to our Polish mentality. It's easy for us to get along, but the physical distance that makes for some very lively contacts between our countries is not. Polonia is relatively small - 1660 people have a permanent residence card. How many people have Bulgarian citizenship and Polish ancestry, I am not sure, from what I remember something about the limits of 700-800. Total of about 2,500 people in the country with 7 million inhabitants. In total, very little. And even more amaze me so frequent presence in the Polish media in Bulgaria. Today Poland has been present through the work of Lem's brilliant!
